Vocational Services: LIFE's Work Program

Life’s Work provides the following services:
  • Site Development: The agency makes employer contacts, completes employment applications, facilitates interviews, etc.
  • Community Supported Employment: This service is reimbursed by Medicaid and can only be accessed by adults who qualify for the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver.
  • Job Coaching: Although generally brief in duration, this training phase is time intensive and allows the agency to provide additional supports during the first weeks of employment. This service often leads to other extended or long-term employment services.
  • Placement & Follow-Along: This service is intended for those individuals who do not qualify for the HCBS Waiver and require only limited training to achieve workplace independence. Generally, this service will last approximately 30 to 120 days, depending on the individuals functioning level and work experience.
  • Community-Based Work Evaluation (CBWE): During this temporary placement, the agency and employer work in conjunction to evaluate the participant’s job performance. At the conclusion of the CBWE, the employer makes a determination of whether permanent employment will be offered, while the agency generates and submits an evaluation to IDVR for review.
  • Community-Based Work Adjustment (CBWA): This service is similar to Job Coaching, but is intended for individuals who do not qualify for the HCBS Waiver. Generally brief in duration and moderately intense, this service allows the agency to provide additional supports during the first weeks of employment. This service often leads to other extended or long-term employment services.
  • Extended Employment Services (EES): This service is similar to Community Supported Employment, but is intended for individuals who do not qualify for the HCBS Waiver.
